RECAP >> Senior Rachel Herbine and sophomore Emmy Horner combined for seven goals as Emmaus rolled to a 12-0 win in its season opener on Friday afternoon at Memorial Field.
Herbine scored a game-high four goals and dished out four assists, while Horner, in her first varsity action, tallied her first career hat trick in the opening quarter as the two-time defending PIAA state champions cruised to the easy victory.
Senior Abby Burnett and junior Hailey Cook each added a goal and two assists, while juniors Cyan Kvacky and Melea Weber also found the back of the cage. In goal, junior Emma Cari was not tested for the Hornets who outshot the Bears 32-0.
Emmaus (1-0) will return to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. as they travel to Bethlehem Catholic before returning home on Thursday to host Stroudsburg at 6:30 p.m.
