RECAP >> In a matchup of the last two unbeatens in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, Nazareth was no match for the nation’s No.1 ranked team as Emmaus rolled to 8-0 win over the Blue Eagles on Tuesday night.
Junior Rachel Herbine led the offense with a six-point effort (3 goals/3 assists), while classmate Ava Zerfass added a had a hat trick, including the first three goals of the game for the Hornets who improved to 14-0 in the EPC and 17-0 overall.
Junior Abby Burnett and senior Kyleigh Faust also scored in the victory, while seniors Lexi Kociban and Jenna Villeneuve each added two assists. Sophomore Emma Cari posted the shutout in goal, her 15th of the season.
Emmaus dominated not only on the scoreboard but statistically as they outshot the hosts 42-0 and held a 19-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Nazareth suffered its first loss of the season as they fell to 12-1 in league play and 15-1 overall. Goalie Mackenzie Mann made 28 stops.
The Hornets will return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday as they host rival Parkland in their regular-season finale. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning with the pregame show at 6:15 p.m.
