Playing on the road in its regular-season finale at Parkland last night proved no trouble for Emmaus as the Hornets completed yet another unbeaten season in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference with a dominating 6-0 effort over their archrival.
Senior Emmy Horner had an outstanding game leading the offense as she scored a hat trick to go along with two assists for head coach Sue Butz-Stavin’s team, which finished a perfect 13-0 in the league, 17-1 overall.
Junior Avery Burnett and sophomore Sadie Nawarynski each scored a goal and an assist in the win, while another sophomore, Gracie Huffer, added her 22nd goal of the season for the Hornets, who led just 1-0 at the intermission before exploding for five goals after halftime.
Emmaus not only dominated on the scoreboard, but statistically as well as they outshot the hosts 29-1 while out cornering them 15-2. Junior Aiko Price turned away the only shot she faced on the night as she posted her 16th shutout of the season in goal. Her counterpart, sophomore Audrina Stewart, was busy making 22 saves.
Up next for Emmaus will be the EPC Tournament, which gets underway on Saturday. The Hornets, the nine-time defending champs, will be the top seed and host the No. 8 seed Liberty at 3 p.m. at Memorial Field.
