RECAP >> Emmaus celebrated its Senior Night on a cold and rainy Thursday night at Memorial Field by remaining undefeated on the season with a 6-1 win over Liberty.
Two seniors who were honored prior to the game – Kaitlyn Csensits and Liz Mazzella – both had contributions in the win as Csensits had three assists, while Mazzella scored her 26th goal of the season for the Hornets who improved to 16-0 overall and 14-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
Freshman Rachel Herbine continued her torrid scoring pace as she recorded her eighth hat trick of the season with her team-leading 37th, 38th and 39th goals, and sister, Annika, also had three assists.
Another freshman, Abby Burnett scored a pair of goals, Nos. 13 and 14 on the season, while junior Madison Bruns joined both Csensits and Annika Herbine with three assists in the game.
Emmaus dominated play from the opening whistle as they scored the first five goals of the game in building a comfortable 5-0 lead at the break.
Liberty, which had won six straight, dropped to 11-4 in the league and 12-4 overall with the loss. Senior Rayne Wright scored the Hurricanes’ only goal in the second half.
The Hornets not only dominated on the scoreboard, but statistically as well as they out shot Liberty 31-4 and held a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners. Junior Bailey Tietz picked up the win in cage making three saves.
Senior goalie Victoria Rivera was also honored prior to the game along with senior manager Sophia Buszka.
Emmaus will play its final regular-season home at Noon on Saturday as they host Pocono Mountain East (11-2-1 EPC/13-2-1 overall).
