RECAP >> Two weeks ago when Emmaus made the long trek north to Wyoming Area, the Hornets found themselves in a position they are seldomly in — trailing in a game.

Thanks to goal from sophomore Rachel Herbine 1-minute, 9-seconds into overtime, Emmaus was able to survive and rally for a 2-1 overtime win over the Warriors in a game played on grass.

When the two teams met again on Saturday on a different playing surface – turf at Emmaus’ Memorial Field – Wyoming Area was no match for the Hornets.

A first quarter goal from Rachel Herbine off an assist from older sister Annika, was all the scoring Emmaus needed as they beat the Warriors for the second time in two weeks 4-0.

The shutout was the seventh in eight games for head coach Sue Butz-Stavin’s team, which has outscored its opponents 84-1. Emmaus remains unbeaten as they improve to 8-0 overall, while Wyoming Area dropped to 12-3.

Annika Herbine scored her team-leading 20th goal of the season and added a pair of assists. Juniors Kyleigh Faust and Jenna Villeneuve also found the back of the cage, with Faust scoring her fifth goal and Villeneuve her third.

Emmaus dominated statistically, outshooting Wyoming Area 16-3 and 13-3 in penalty corners. Senior Bailey Tietz turned away all three shots she faced for the Hornets, while her counterpart Carly Saranchuk was credited with 12 saves.

Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday at home as they take on rival Parkland at 6:30 p.m. The game will be carried LIVE on www.pennsportsradio.com beginning with the pregame show at 6:15 p.m.
