RECAP >> The much-anticipated matchup of unbeatens in the Lehigh County Division – Emmaus and Parkland – turned into a one-sided affair in favor of the Hornets on Tuesday night at Memorial Field.
Emmaus shook off an 1-1 tie with the Trojans early in the second period and scored seven unanswered goals on their way to an easy 8-1 rout of their rivals.
Sophomore Rachel Herbine led all scorers with a game-high four goals as the Hornets remained unbeaten on the season (9-0 overall/7-0 EPC), while Parkland suffered its first loss of the season (6-1)
Junior Alexis Kociban also had an outstanding night for Emmaus with a career-high four assists to go along with a pair of goals, while senior Annika Herbine scored her team-leading 20th goal and 18th assist of the season.
Statistically Emmaus dominated in both shots (20-2) and penalty corners (7-1). Hornets senior goalie Bailey Tietz was credited with two saves in the game, while Trojans netminder Tess Garchinsky stopped seven shots.
The two teams will meet again to close out the regular-season on Friday at 4 p.m. at Parkland High School.
