RECAP >> Senior Liz Mazzella, junior Mackenzie Bruns and freshmen and Ava Zerfass each scored two goals on Monday as Emmaus went on the road and defeated Hazleton 7-1 in a non-league game.

The Hornets gave up a goal for only the second time this season as the Cougars scored in the first half, but it hardly mattered as Emmaus took care of business in remaining undefeated on the season at 11-0 overall.

Freshman Rachel Herbine scored her team-leading 24th goal of the season and added two assists in the win, while senior Kaitlyn Csensits also had a pair of assists for the Hornets who out shot Hazleton 34-4 and held an 11-4 advantage in penalty corners. Junior Bailey Tietz picked up the win in goal and was credited with three saves.

For Hazleton, Mia Dremock scored her team’s only goal of the season in the opening half off an assist from Kaitlyn Deihl on a penalty corner. The Cougars dropped to 2-5-1 on the season.

Emmaus will return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday as they host Easton at Memorial Field in a rematch of last year’s Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and District XI Championship games both won by the Hornets (5-1 & 1-0).
