RECAP — Senior Brandon Camire matched his career-high for touchdowns in a game with five as Emmaus opened its season with a 58-0 rout of Allen last night on the brand new synthetic turf at East Penn School District Stadium.
Camire, who ran for 224 yards and five touchdowns a year ago in the Hornets 62-33 win over Allen, scored on runs of 38, 8 and 6 yards and also caught a pair of touchdowns of 6 and 46 yards as Emmaus defeated Allen for the 10th straight time and for the 13th time in the last 14 meetings. He finished the night with 117 yards on the ground and 62 receiving.
Sophomore quarterback Jake Fotta ran for one touchdown (38 yards) and threw for another (6 yards to Camire) finishing the game 6 of 11 for 76 yards. Senior Jake Moyer came in relief late in the game and hooked up with Camire on a 56-yard score.
Junior Jared Groller also scored a touchdown in the win on a 6-yard run, while sophomore Tylik Jarvis (5 carries/46 yards) also found the end zone with his first career varsity touchdown on a 23-yard run to cap of the scoring.
Prior to the game, Emmaus honored its 18 seniors – Ethan Corvoisier, Brandon Camire, Jameel Sanders, Chad Newhard, Kordell Waiters, Jake Moyer, Tanner Ritter, Aidan Dougherty, Elijah Burnett, Colin Byrne, Gabe Trexler, Sam Wassel, Connor Carter, Mike D’Ottavio, Tyler Keller, Justin Roman, Avi Sanabria and Alex Orlando.
The Hornets will return to action next Thursday when they host Dieruff at 7 p.m. Penn Sports Radio will have live coverage of the game beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
