RECAP >> Visiting Pleasant Valley ran twice as many plays as Emmaus on Friday night but it hardly mattered to the one number that counted the most on the scoreboard.

Despite holding a 62-31 advantage in total plays, the winless Bears were no match as the Hornets entertained a large crowd that gathered on Lower Macungie Youth Association (LMYA) at East Penn School District Stadium cruising to an easy 41-0 victory.

Junior Brandon Camire scored three touchdowns for the fourth consecutive week, and fellow junior Jacob Moyer tossed three more touchdown passes as Emmaus did all its scoring in the first and third quarters in improving to 3-1 on the season. The Hornets also shutout Pleasant Valley for the second consecutive year (56-0 last year).

Camire, who had rushed for 200+ yards in his last three games, carried the ball just nine times but still ran for 115 yards against a Pleasant Valley team that had given up an average of 58 points in its first three games. His three touchdown runs of 23, 21 and 39 gave him 14 for the season.

Moyer, coming off a three-touchdown passing effort in his first varsity start in last week’s 49-21 win over Whitehall, had another solid game under center as he completed 9 of 12 for a career-high 179 yards and three scores. His three touchdown passes went to three different receivers.

Junior wideout Jameel Sanders had over 100 yards for the first time in his career (110) on just two catches, including an 83-yard touchdown pass from Moyer that pushed the score to 41-0 in the third quarter, enforcing the mercy rule.

Senior Bryan Bertsch had four catches on the night and caught his first career touchdown pass on a 5-yard score in the first quarter, and classmate Adam Heiserman hauled in his first touchdown of the season on a 23-yard pass in the third quarter.

Ben Thomas, a sophomore, also saw varsity action for the first time in the fourth quarter and completed both of his pass attempts for 19 yards.

Emmaus will return to action next Friday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Cottingham Stadium to take on unbeaten Easton. The Red Rovers improved to 4-0 on the season after crushing Liberty 44-7 last night. The game will be carried Live on Penn Sports Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
