RECAP >> Easton’s defense had no answers for stopping Emmaus’ dynamic duo of seniors Jake Fotta and Dylan Darville on Friday night.

Fotta accounted for a career-high five touchdowns and Darville had a career-best for yards receiving in a game as the Hornets returned to their winning ways with a 42-21 win over the Red Rovers at Cottingham Stadium.

Emmaus had a balanced attack on offense as they totaled 443 yards (255 pass/188 rush) in improving to 8-1 on the season, while snapping a three-game losing streak to Easton. They also picked up their first win at the newly-refurbished stadium since 2016.

Fotta had touchdown runs of 7, 5 and 15 yards in the game and led the team in rushing with 78 yards, while passing for 255 yards and two scores. He finished the night with a career-high 333 total yards.

Darville was on the end of two of those touchdowns, hauling in scores of 74 and 34 yards and finished the night with what’s believed to be the school record for receiving yards in a game (236) on nine receptions. Darville also had nine receptions in last week’s loss at Nazareth.

Emmaus, which had lost at home to Easton in two of the past three seasons (17-13) and (28-23), never trailed in the game as they scored touchdowns on all of their first half possessions and led 28-14 at the half.

Easton, winners of three of its last four games after an 0-4 start to the season, dropped to 3-6 with the loss and remained winless (0-4) at home. Senior Aidan Hutchison had a pair of touchdown runs (1 and 2 yards) and finished the night with 154 yards on 24 carries on the ground. Sophomore quarterback Joseph Martinez was just 9 of 17 for 109 yards. Senior wide receiver JuJu Fears had four receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, junior linebacker John Wassel led the Emmaus with a season-high nine tackles. Sophomore linebacker Reilly Bechtel was next with six.

Emmaus will return home to EPSD Stadium on Friday to host rival Parkland in the regular-season finale at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
