RECAP >> A year ago, Central Catholic spoiled Emmaus’ homecoming as they came to East Penn School District Stadium and handed the Hornets a 35-17 defeat.

Last night, head coach Harold Fairclough’s team got the much-awaited revenge they were looking for.

Emmaus led from start to finish and despite a late charge by Central Catholic, were able to pull away in the second half as they defeated the Vikings 24-7 at Allentown’s J. Birney Crum Stadium.

With the victory, Emmaus improved to 3-0 and it marked the sixth time in the last seven meetings that the Hornets have defeated Central Catholic.

Senior running back Brandon Camire went over the 100-yard mark for the third straight game (131 yards) and scored his 10th touchdown of the season on a 6-yard run on the Hornets opening drive of the game.

Senior cornerback Tanner Ritter scored his first career touchdown and put the game away late in the fourth quarter as intercepted quarterback Matt Rauscher’s pass and returned it 65 yards. Ritter also had a key 67-yard reception right before halftime which led to Fotta’s 1-yard touchdown run as the Hornets extended their lead to 17-7.

Alex Orlando was outstanding on special teams for the Hornets with a 25-yard field goal, three extra points and key punts which pinned Central Catholic back in its own territory.

The Vikings, who were hurt by three turnovers in the game, dropped to 2-2 on the season. Central Catholic’s lone touchdown of the night came in the second quarter on Rauscher’s 18-yard run.

The Hornets will return home next Friday at 7 p.m. as they host Whitehall and former offensive coordinator Matt Senneca. The game will be carried LIVE on www.pennsportsradio.com beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.
