Game Notes: The Hornets will look to rebound following a tough 20-17 overtime loss at Neshaminy last Friday. Emmaus, which had not dropped a season-opener since the 2013 season, had a chance to win the game in the waning seconds but Will Buck’s 32-yard field goal was no good sending the game into overtime. In the extra session, the Hornets were unable to score a touchdown and had to settle for a Buck 22-yard FG. Neshaminy then responded scoring on a 7-yard halfback TD pass to the win the game … Emmaus had a 22-yard FG blocked in the game and also a 44-yarder that hit the upright … QB Jerek Cooper had a solid game accounting for 108 yards thru the air and 68 on the ground, including a 21-yard TD run. Senior RB Reilly Bechtel led the Hornets ground game with 95 yards and a score. Bechtel and junior Robert Edwards led the way defensively with each coming up with seven tackles … Becahi, which had two travel two plus hours to its season opener, came away with a two TD win over East Pennsboro. A year ago, the Hawks started the season 5-0 before losing their next five. They then rebounded to defeat CCHS 29-0 in the District XI 4A championship game. Becahi is a very young team with just seven seniors. QB Cayden Vassa and brother WR Carter Vassa are two of the top players on offense. LB Carlos Perez is one of the best in the EPC.
