RECAP >> Emmaus struggled offensively all day long and fell behind early in suffering their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon at J. Birney Crum Stadium as they fell to rival Central Catholic 21-0 in a matchup of two teams that entered play unbeaten in the EPC South.

Only the Vikings remained that way at the end of day as they scored touchdowns on their first two possessions of the game and then later added a fourth quarter score in improving to 3-0 and defeating the Hornets for the second time in the last three years.

Emmaus dropped to 2-1 on the season and was shutout for the first time since suffering a 6-0 loss to Wyoming Valley West in 2012 in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Hornets managed just 139 total yards of total offense (33 rushing/106 passing) and also turned the ball over a pair of times as sophomore quarterback Josiah Williams struggled in his third career start completing just 13 of 30 passes.

Junior running back Tylik Jarvis was held in check all afternoon against a stout Central Catholic defensive unit being held to minus-3 yards on just six carries.

Senior wide receiver Jaiden Robinson was the lone bright spot on offense for the Hornets with six receptions for 52 yards.

Central Catholic junior wide receiver Griffin Patridge had a standout performance for the Vikings as he caught three touchdown passes and finished the day with 137 receiving yards on seven catches. Junior quarterback Tamlin Ferguson threw for 219 yards and a pair of scores in his first career varsity start.

Emmaus will look to bounce back on Friday at 7 p.m. as they host undefeated Whitehall (3-0) at East Penn School District Stadium. The game will be carried Live on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
