RECAP – Visiting Nazareth outscored Emmaus 22-3 in the second half and took advantage of three turnovers as the Blue Eagles spoiled the home opener for the Hornets by rallying for 36-24 win on Friday night at East Penn School District Stadium.
Nazareth senior wide receiver Nathan Stefanik did it all as he scored a pair of touchdowns and also had three interceptions on defense, while fellow senior quarterback Anthony Harris threw for two scores as the Blue Eagles improved to 2-0 on the season.
For Emmaus (1-1), running back Brandon Camire had his second consecutive 200+ yard game as he ran for 206 yards and two touchdowns. The junior had scores of 82, 3 and 85 yards and ran for 197 yards in the first half, but was limited to just 9 yards in the second half on 8 carries.
Senior wide receiver Johnny Ferris had a career-high 73 yards on four receptions for the Hornets who had three turnovers.
Nazareth halted a three-game losing streak to Emmaus by picking up its first win against the Hornets since 2016 (41-21).
Emmaus will look to bounce back as they travel to Whitehall next Friday to take on the Zephyrs (0-2).
