Editor’s Note: Over the next weeks and months, Emmaussports.com will be spotlighting senior spring sports student-athletes at Emmaus High School who have had their final athletic year cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Today we spotlight catcher Jadon Diaz (JD) of the baseball team with our Q & A session:
Q: How are you coping during these difficult and uncertain times with the Coronavirus pandemic?
JD: I’d say I’m just taking it one day at a time, knowing that I’m safe at home. I try to be optimistic about the whole situation.
Q: What’s been the biggest challenge for you day to day?
JD: The biggest challenge day to day is definitely finding ways to keep myself busy. It can get quite repetitive and boring doing the same thing day after day.
Q: What are you doing to keep busy?
JD: I think I painted more than half of my house with my mom in the past month haha! Other than that though I’ve just been doing school work, playing video games, and trying to get outside as much as possible.
Q: How disappointed are you now that the spring sports season has been cancelled?
JD: Now that spring sports have been cancelled I just feel so let down. Not specifically by anyone, but by the fact that we all worked so hard during the fall and winter to make this season special and in the end we couldn’t even play one scrimmage, it makes me feel very disappointed
Q: What is your favorite memory from your high school sports career?
JD: I have so many great memories of Emmaus baseball from my freshman year all the way to my junior, but my favorite I’d have to say is my sophomore year when I got to play with varsity. We were coming home from a game at Coca-Cola Park and that bus ride was so fun and full of energy and laughs, I’ll never forget it.
Q:What are you future plans after high school? If college, what school have you committed to and do you plan on playing sports and what will be your major?
JD: In the fall, I will be attending East Stroudsburg University to study Athletic Training. I do plan on continuing to play baseball.
Q: What’s the best advice you can give to your underclassmen?
JD: For my underclassmen the only thing I have to say is, don’t take anything for granted. Work hard every day at everything you do. High school truly passes by in the blink of an eye.
