Girls Basketball – DeVita’s game-high 17 points lead Hornets to 55-13 rout of Allen.

Emmaus bounced back from its first loss of the season last night at home at ‘The Hive’ rolling to a 42-point win over Allen.

Nine different players figured into the scoring column for first year head coach Avon Mack’s team, who improved to 4-1 overall 3-0 in the EPC.

Junior Gabby DeVita reached double figures for the fourth time in five games leading all scorers with a game-high 17 points. Sophomore Kayla Snyder added 11, while senior Sofie Laird and junior Olive Whitney each added six.

Emmaus raced out to a 22-1 lead after the first quarter and built its advantage to 35-6 at the half. The second half also belonged to the Hornets as they outscored Allen 20-7, including holding the Canaries scoreless in the third quarter.

Allen was led in scoring by TaShona Spurgeon who had seven points. The Canaries dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the EPC.

Emmaus will return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. as they host East Stroudsburg North.
