Girls Basketball – Early-season struggles continue for Hornets as they drop to 0-6 following 50-25 loss to Central Catholic.

RECAP – The early-season struggles continued for Emmaus on Friday night at Rockne Hall as the Hornets got doubled up in a 50-25 loss to Central Catholic.

The defeat drops Emmaus to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. It was also the 10th straight loss for the program dating back to last season.

In a losing effort, sophomore Gabrielle Martin scored a career-high 10 points for the Hornets. Fellow sophomore Marah Sisonick added a career-best five points.

Central Catholic (2-2, 4-3) was led by senior Jess Davis who had a game-high 16 points. Teammates Emily Vaughan and Julia Roth each added nine.

The Vikings jumped out to a 16-3 lead after the first eight minutes and extended the margin to 32-7 at the break after outscoring Emmaus 16-4 in the second quarter. Both teams scored 18 points after the half.

Emmaus will look to snap its losing skid on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. as they host Scranton in a non-league game at ‘The Hive.’
