RECAP >> Needing a win to keep alive its hopes of reaching the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Tournament and qualifying for districts, Emmaus was unable to rally last night in its game against a red-hot Whitehall team as the Zephyrs spoiled the Hornets Senior Night with a 43-35 win.

The loss was the fourth in the last five games for head coach Kelsey Gallagher’s team. which dropped to 7-6 in the EPC and 10-8 overall. Emmaus needs just one win in its last four games to qualify for the post-season.

In defeat, junior Paige Inman led all scorers with a game-high 13 points, while senior Grace Oglesbee added eight for the Hornets who were outscored in three of the four quarters and shot just 31 percent (4 of 13) from the free-throw line.

Whitehall (6-6 EPC, 6-11 overall) was led in scoring by senior Olivia Hines who had a team-high 10 points. Sophomore Morgan Dunbar and senior Ella Laky each added eight. The Zephyrs have won five of their last six games and they avenged an earlier-season 36-23 loss to Emmaus.

Prior to the game, Emmaus honored its five seniors – Kam Watkins, Grace Oglesbee, Sarah Hoch, Alyssa Brader and Callie Cook.

Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to winless Allen (0-18) for a 7 p.m. tip.
