RECAP >> Emmaus hung for a half at Rockne Hall in its regular-season finale with a red-hot Central Catholic team that had won nine straight games entering play last night trailing by only seven points at the half (29-22).
But the Vikettes proved to be too much in the second half as they outscored the Hornets 40-27 over the final two quarters on their way to a 20-point win, 69-49 and a season-sweep of the Hornets.
The 69 points allowed was the most Emmaus has given up since falling to Scranton 65-41.
The loss dropped Emmaus to 10-6 in the EPC and 13-9 overall, while Central Catholic won its 10th straight game in improving to 14-2 in the league and 19-3 overall. Both teams are headed to the league tournament which gets underway this Friday.
Junior Mya Cooper led the Hornets in scoring with a season-high 15 points. Freshman Gabby De Vita had three 3-pointers and was next with 13 followed by eight points from senior Paige Inman.
Central Catholic had three players reach double figures in the win. Senior Maddi Szoke and junior Sammy Roth each scored a game-high 17 points while junior Molly Driscoll added 13.
