Girls Basketball – Hornets improve to 4-0 on the season winning home opener over Dieruff 61-49.

RECAP >> Playing in their first home game after three straight road contests, the Hornets entertained the hometown fans at ‘The Hive’ last night by remaining unbeaten with a 61-49 win over Dieruff.

Senior Page Inman led all scorers with a career-high 20 points, including a 10-for-15 effort from the free-thrown line. As a team, Emmaus had one of its best efforts in recent history from the charity stripe shooting 70 percent (23-for-33).

Freshman Gabrielle De Vita reached double figures for the third time in four games and finished with 10 points, while junior Taylor Griffith added nine points and freshman Olive Whitney also scored a career-high nine points on three 3-pointers.

Emmaus led 14-11 after one quarter and outscored Dieruff 14-5 in the second to take a 28-16 lead into the break. The margin increased to 20 (47-27) after three quarters.

Dieruff dropped to 0-2 on the season with the loss. The Huskies were led by Jayla Lopez and Marisa Price who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Bryanna Fernandez added nine.

Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday, December 13 as they travel to Whitehall. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
