In a matchup of the last two unbeatens in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, it was Emmaus maintaining that status last night as the Hornets went on the road and rallied for a low-scoring 42-36 win over arch-rival Parkland.

Emmaus overcame as much as a nine-point deficit in the first half and outscored the Trojans 24-15 over the final two quarters to win their eighth straight game in improving to 8-0 in the EPC and 11-1 overall. With the victory, the Hornets also clinched a berth in the District XI Tournament. They also defeated Parkland for the first time in five meetings after going 0-4 a season ago.

Junior Gabby DeVita, the team’s leading scorer, led the way with a team-high 11 points, while senior Cassie Doemling added nine and junior Olive Whitney provided a spark off the bench with three 3-pointers and nine points.

Parkland was led in scoring by senior Delaney Chilcote who scored a game-high 17 points. Teammate Sarah Car added 10 for the Trojans, who dropped to 7-1 in the league and 7-4 overall.

Emmaus will return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. as they host Pocono Mountain East (3-6 EPC/3-8 overall)
