Girls Basketball – Hornets push unbeaten Easton before falling late 44-31.

Emmaus gave unbeaten Easton everything they could for three quaters on their home floor yesteday at the 27th Annual Jack Bennett Rotary Tournament, but the Red Rovers proved to be too much down the stretch as they pulled away for a 44-31 win.

The Hornets built a surprising six-point lead at the half (19-13) and still trailed by just one (25-24) heading to the final quarter, but Easton used a 19-7 fourth quarter as they remained unbeaten on the season (9-0) while handing Emmaus its fourth straight loss.

In a losing effort, sophomore Gabby DeVita and freshman Kayla Snyder each scored nine points for the Hornets (3-6 overall). The 31 points scored by Emmaus was a season-low.

Easton was led by senior Evalyse Cole who scored a game-high 17 points. Teammate Megan Elias added eight.

The Hornets will return to action at 3 p.m. today as they face Freedom in the consolation game. The Patriots lost to Phillipsburg 57-49.
