Girls Basketball – Hornets rally to force overtime against Liberty but fall in the extra session 56-50

Playing on the road at Liberty last night, Emmaus forced overtime when senior Mya Cooper connected on a 3-pointer with :12 seconds remainingĀ in regulation, but the Hurricane controlled the extra session outscoring the Hornets 8-2 on their way to a 56-50 win

Liberty had led by as much as eight points (42-34) after three quarters before Emmaus won the final quarter 14-6 to send the game into overtime.

In the loss, the Hornets placed a season-high three players in double figures with freshman Kayla Snyder leading the way with a career-high 17 points. Cooper was next with a season-best 12 points, followed by sophomore Gabby DeVita’s 11.

Liberty was paced by Ava Kopetski who led all scorers with a game-high 23 points, including an 11 of 15 effort from the free-throw line. Teammate Ruby Miller added 12.

Emmaus dropped to 3-2 in the league and 3-4 overall with its second straight loss, while Liberty improved to 4-1 in both the EPC and overall.

The two teams combined for 15 3-pointers in the game – Liberty (8) and Emmaus (7). 

The Hornets will look to bounce back on Thursday at home as they host Central Catholic at 7 p.m.
