There was plenty of reasons to celebrate last night for Emmaus at home as the Hornets continued their winning ways with a 66-43 rout of Allen on Senior Night.
A total of 12 different players scored in the win for head coach Kelsey Gallagher’s team who won their fifth straight game in improving to 7-5 in the EPC and 10-8 overall. Emmaus is just one win shy of clinching a berth in the District XI Class 6A Tournament.
Junior Sofie Laird came off the bench and led the Hornets balanced scoring attack with a career-high 10 points, senior Taylor Griffith added nine while sophomore Gabby DeVita had eight and senior Julia Adams also scored a career-best eight points.
Emmaus outscored Allen in three of the four quarters, jumping out to a 17-11 lead after the first quarter, 29-19 at the halftime break and 49-26 through three quarters.
The Canaries (3-9 EPC/7-10 overall) were led in scoring by Layla Sweatte who scored a game-high 21 points. Teammate Tishona Spurgeon addded eight.
Prior to the game, the Hornets honored their four seniors — Mya Cooper, Taylor Griffith, Julia Adams and Alexis Krum.
Emmaus will return to action on Monday as they travel to Pocono Mountain East. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
