RECAP >> A big second half performance by Emmaus last night at home at ‘The Hive’ was the difference as the Hornets bounced back from their first loss of the season by routing Freedom 64-37 to remain unbeaten in conference play.
The Hornets, playing just their second home game of the season, led by just two at the halftime break (21-19) against a Patriot team that had entered action just 1-5 on the season, but outscored the visitors 43-18 the rest of the way as they improved to 4-0 in the EPC and 6-1 overall. The 64 points was a season-high for head coach Kelsey Gallagher’s team.
Senior Page Inman had a big night in leading the Hornets to the victory scoring a career-high 23 points, 16 coming in the second half. For her efforts, she was named the SportClips Player of the Game on the LIVE broadcast on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.
Freshman Gabrielle De Vita added 14 points, with nine of those coming after halftime, while senior Talyor Griffith was also in double figures and finished with 12.
Freedom (1-4 EPC/1-6 overall) was led in scoring by juniors Maliya Gonzalez and Alexus McNeil who each scored nine points. The Patriots were hurt with 17 turnovers in the game.
Emmaus will be back in action on Thursday at 7 p.m. as they travel to East Stroudsburg South in a makeup game that was postponed from last week.
