Girls Basketball – Inman scores game-winning basket in waning seconds, freshman De Vita shines with 16 points lifting Hornets to season-opening 46-44 win over Solehi

RECAP >> Senior Paige Inman’s basket with just :01 second left on the clock wound up being the game-winning points last night as the Hornets opened their season with a 46-44 non-league road win at Southern Lehigh.

Inman missed the front end of a one-and-one with :02 seconds remaining in regulation and the game tied at 44-all, but was able to get her own rebound around three defenders and put in the winning score lifting the Hornets (1-0) to the dramatic win.

Freshman Gabrielle De Vita had a big night in first career varsity game leading Emmaus with 16 points on five field goals and 4-for-4 effort from the free-throw line. Inman was next with eight points.

Solehi (0-1) was paced by freshman Gabriela Netwall who led all scorers with a game-high 24 points. Junior Tessa Seagreaves added nine.

The Hornets will return to action at 12:30 p.m. today as they travel to Berks County to take on Wilson in a non-league matchup.
