RECAP — Points were’t easy to come by for either team on Tuesday night as Emmaus looked to pick up their first Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win hosting Pocono Mountain East at ‘The Hive.’
The two teams combined for just 51 points and unfortunately, it was the Hornets coming out on the short end as they remained winless in the league falling a 31-20 defeat to the Cardinals.
Emmaus struggled in the opening half as they shot just 20 percent (3 of 15) from the floor and saw the visitors race out to a 9-0 lead. The Hornets were able to get to within one (16-15) with three minutes left in the third quarter, but Pocono Mountain East was able to pull away, going on a 15-5 run to end the game.
The loss was the third straight for head coach Kelsey Gallagher’s team which dropped to 0-7 in the EPC and 2-9 overall. The Cardinals improved to 3-4 in the league and 4-8 overall with the victory.
Macy Berryman led all scorers with a game-high 15 points, 10 coming in the first half for Pocono Mountain East.
Emmaus was led in scoring by sophomore Gabrielle Martin and freshman Sarah Hoch who each scored six points apiece. The Hornets were held to just seven field goal in the loss.
Emmaus will look to snap its three-game losing streak and pickup its first league win on Friday as they travel to Liberty to take on the Hurricane (1-6 EPC, 2-8 overall).
