Girls lacrosse – Emmaus headed back to EPC final after rolling to 16-2 win over rival Parkland; Hornets will face Pleasant Valley in Thursday’s title game.

RECAP >> Top-seed Emmaus jumped on rival Parkland from the opening whistle of last night’s Eastern Pennsylvania Conference semifinal at Al Erdosy Field in Northampton as the Hornets rolled to a 16-2 rout of the Trojans.

The victory sends Emmaus (17-2 overall) back to the league championship game for the second year in a row on Thursday at 5 p.m. Awaiting the Hornets will be third-seeded Pleasant Valley, which pulled off a mild upset of second-seeded Easton, 14-11 in the first semifinal. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning with the pregame show at 4:40 p.m. Former Hornet Ellie Ervin ’21 will be part of the broadcast.

Senior Julia Cote and junior Emily Hollinger once again led the offensive attack as the two combined for nine goals, similar to their efforts just six days ago when Emmaus handed Parkland a 10-4 setback in the regular-season finale at Memorial Field.

Cote, the league’s MVP, had her second straight five-goal game against the Trojans, while Hollinger added four goals for the second time. Senior Mikayla Viola and sophomores Olivia Schmidt and Jordyn Poll each tallied a pair of goals for Emmaus which led 9-1 at the half.

Parkland (9-8) got scoring from senior Nikki Boyer and junior Taryn Poremba.
