RECAP >> The Emmaus girls lacrosse team remained unbeaten on Saturday afternoon at home at Memorial Field as the Hornets defeated Southern Lehigh 9-4 on Senior Day.
Head coach Roxanne Betz’s squad capped off a perfect 5-0 week as they improved to 9-0 on the season, the best start in program history.
Five different players netted goals in the win for the Hornets. Junior Julia Cote scored a hat trick to increase her team-leading total to 31 on the season, sophomore Emily Hollinger added a pair of goals, Nos. 28 & 29, while junior Mikayla Viola scored her ninth and 10th of the year. Junior Marybeth Smith and freshman Jordyn Poll also added goals, while senior Ally Shaffer had a team-high three assists. In goal, senior Ellie Ervin was credited with five saves.
Southern Lehigh (6-3) was led by senior Teah Lakatos who had a hat trick. Junior Riley Macintosh added a goal and an assist.
Prior to the game, Emmaus honored its five seniors – Ally Shaffer, Tori Brown, Nesiah Bertram, Rebekah Brosky and Ellie Ervin.
The Hornets will be back in action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. as they travel to winless Liberty (0-6). The team will return home Thursday at 6:30 p.m. as they host unbeaten Freedom (6-0). The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa Sports Network.
