Girls Lacrosse – Hornets record a pair of wins in 24 hours, improve to 4-0 on the season

RECAP >> The Emmaus girls lacrosse team picked up a pair of home wins on back-to-back nights as the Hornets defeated Saucon Valley 14-4 on Thursday followed by a closely-contested 8-7 victory over Central Catholic on Friday.

In last night’s one-goal win, junior Julia Cote recorded her second consecutive four-goal game of the season as Emmaus won despite playing a player down for 10 minutes and three players down for over five minutes.

Junior Mikayla Viola scored a pair of goals and added an assist, while freshman Jordyn Poll and senior Ally Shaffer also found the back of the net as Emmaus remained unbeaten on the season (4-0)

In the win over Saucon Valley, seven different players scored goals as the Hornets outscored the Panthers 9-0 in the second half to roll to a 14-4 victory. The game was carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.

Cote had a game-high four goals, while teammates Viola, Hollinger, Poll and Tori Brown all scored two goals. Shaffer dished out three assists and freshman Alani Shotwell was outstanding in goal recording six saves, including posting a shutout in the second half.

Saucon Valley, which suffered its first loss of the season (3-1), was led in scoring by senior Maria Donahue and sophomore Sophie Engelhardt who each scored a pair of goals.

Emmaus will return to action next week with a busy schedule that includes five games: Monday vs Crestwood (home 6:30 pm), Tuesday vs Pleasant Valley (away 5:30 pm), Thursday vs Northampton (home 6:30 pm), Friday vs Nazareth (away 6:30 pm) and Saturday vs Solehi (home 2 pm)
