RECAP >> The Emmaus girls lacrosse team’s unbeaten streak came to an end in Broadheadsville on Monday night as the Hornets watched host Pleasant Valley rally in the second half for a 15-10 win. The 15 goals allowed were the most given up by head coach Roxanne Betz’s team this season.
Emmaus, which entered play winning its first eight games, led by as much as four goals in the first half (8-4) on the road, but the offense went cold after halftime as the Hornets were only able to must a pair of goals while the Bears tallied nine.
In a losing effort, senior Julia Cote led the offense with six goals bringing her season total to 38. Junior Emily Hollinger added a pair of scores – Nos. 26 and 27 – while sophomores Jordyn Poll and Olivia Schmidt each added a goal.
Pleasant Valley, which started the season 0-2 after losses to both Freedom (6-5) and Easton (11-9), won its sixth straight game and improved to 6-2 overall. The Bears were led by senior Alex Bush who had a game-high seven goals to go along with two assists. Classmate Bri McInaw added a six-point effort with four goals and two assists, while freshmen Devon Bush and Olivia Iandoli each scored twice.
Emmaus (8-1) will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday when they host Northampton on Senior Night at 6 p.m.
