RECAP >> A pair of first half goals was the difference on a frigid night at the Zephyr Sports Complex in Whitehall on Tuesday evening as Emmaus defeated rival Central Catholic 2-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference semifinals.

Junior Julia Adams scored her 10th goal of the season off a corner kick just 3:24 into the match to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead and then classmate Vivienne Pinocci-Wrightsman found the back of the net with a big insurance goal – her fifth – with a little over seven minutes remaining in the half to make it 2-0.

With the victory, Emmaus (16-3-1) defeats the Vikings for the second consecutive season in the playoffs (2-1 a year ago) and the Hornets are headed back to the league championship for the first time since 2019 where they’ll face rival Parkland at 2 p.m. on Saturday at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning at 1:40 p.m.

Emmaus and Parkland have met once during the regular-season on October 12 with the Trojans prevailing 1-0 at Memorial Field. Parkland also defeated the Hornets in the EPC semifinals a year ago (3-1) and in the 2019 finals (2-1).

Defensively, Emmaus was once again outstanding in last night’s victory posting their 14th shutout of the season in front of sophomore goalie Ashley Stine.

Central Catholic, the defending Class 2A state champion, suffered just its second loss the season and dropped to 15-2-1 overall.
