Girls soccer – Luck scores a pair of goals in leading Hornets past Freedom 3-0 in District XI opener

RECAP >> Senior Jena Luck scored two goals leading fourth-seeded Emmaus to a 3-0 victory over Freedom, the No.5 seed, in their District XI Class 4A quarterfinal matchup last night at Memorial Field.

Luck scored both goals in the second half, teammate junior Madison Woodward added her eighth goal of the season, senior Kam Watkins dished out two assists and classmate goalie Molly Lineberger recorded the shutout as the Hornets improved to 12-7 overall with the victory.

Up next for Emmaus will be rival Parkland in Tuesday’s semifinal at 5 p.m. at Whitehall High School. The Trojans, the No.1 overall seed, rolled to a 7-0 win over eighth-seeded Pocono Mountain East. This will be the fourth meeting between the two rivals with Parkland winning all three previous matchups (1-0, 1-0 and 3-1).

Freedom, which had ended Emmaus’ season two years ago in districts, closed the books on a 12-7-1 campaign.
