Girls Soccer – Nazareth spoils Emmaus Senior Night as they hand the Hornets their first loss of the season, 3-1

RECAP >> Emmaus fell behind early in its matchup last night at home vs Nazareth on Senior Night as the Blue Eagles handed the Hornets their first loss of the season, 3-1.

Nazareth, which entered the contest with just one loss, scored just 10 minutes in the match on an own goal and kept the lead throughout as they knocked the Hornets from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Head coach Chris Hain’s squad had gone undefeated through the first 15 games of the season (13-0-2) but tasted defeat for the first time as the Blue Eagles spoiled Emmaus’ Senior Night.

Sophomore Madison Jankowski, who entered the match with 10 goals on the season, added to her total with a pair of goals in the win for Nazareth (11-1-1 EPC/14-1-1 overall).

The Hornets lone goal of the night came from sophomore Hannah Berk, who scored her third goal of the season to cut the Blue Eagles lead to 2-1.

In goal, senior Ashley Stine made three saves for Emmaus.

Prior to the game, the Hornets honored their six seniors — Stine, Kirsten Esterly, Morgan Tandy, Gabriella Powell, Madison Shutkufski and Kam McWhinney.

Emmaus will be on the road for its next two contests as they travel to Liberty on Monday at 7 p.m. before closing out their regular-season schedule on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. vs rival Parkland.
