RECAP >> In a matchup of unbeatens, it was rival Parkland handing Emmaus its first loss of the season on Tuesday with a 5-2 win over the Hornets.
The Trojans swept all three singles matches and split two of the four doubles as they captured the EPC regular-season championship with a perfect 16-0 mark. Emmaus dropped to 15-1 in league play and 17-1 overall with the loss.
Emmaus, off to one of its best starts in school history with 17 consecutive wins to start the season, got wins from two of their double tandems as juniors Maddy Everett and Sydney Gosselin picked up a three-set win at No.2 doubles, while senior Alyssa Mugavero and junior Kate Smith swept the No.4 doubles in straight sets.
The Hornets will now focus on the upcoming Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Tournament which gets underway on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Parkland High School.
