Girls Volleyball – Hornets win championship of Easton Invitational; Landino named tournament MVP

The Emmaus girls volleyball team captured the championship of the Red Rover Invitational on Saturday at Easton Middle School.

Head coach Jessica Olang’s squad went unbeaten in the 10-team tournament defeating Pleasant Valley in the finals 2-0 (25-18, 25-22).

In pool play, Emmaus swept opponents East Stroudsburg North (25-9, 25-12), Wilkes-Barre (25-22, 25-17), Little Flower (25-6, 25-20) and Pleasant Valley (25-18, 25-16).

In the playoffs, the Hornets defeated Quakertown (25-7, 25-16) before beating the Bears for the second time in the title game. Pleasant Valley had reached the finals after sweeping the host school Easton in straight sets.

Emmaus junior Rosie Landino was named the tournament’s MVP. Also named were Riley Ruggiero (PV), Jaida Underwood (Wilkes-Barre), Zoe Taylor (ESN), Isabela Kulczycki (Easton), Maria Medina (Upper Perk), Genevieve Clark (Quakertown), Maeva Mazza (PM East) and Estacy Canario (Allen).

Emmaus will return to league play on Monday at 6 p.m. as they host Becahi in a key EPC matchup.
