Golf – Hornets suffer just second loss of the season falling to unbeaten Nazareth by 6 strokes; Walters fires second lowest round of the day for Emmaus

Emmaus went 2-1 in its quad match at Shawnee Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon defeating both Stroudsburg and Liberty, but falling to unbeaten Nazareth.

The Hornets (10-2 overall) recorded a team score of 393 to finish second, just six shots behind Nazareth (387) who remained unbeaten on the season at 12-0.

Sophomore Evan Walters fired the second lowest round of the day amongst all golfers with an even par 72. Teammate, junior Kyan DeLong, was four shots back with a 4-over 76, while sophomore Silas Wellhoener finished with a 6-over 78.

Nazareth had four of its golfers finish in the 70s led by Zachary Miller and Radek Remaley who both shot a 3-over 75.

Stroudsburg’s Hunter Probst was the top individual golfer with a spectacular 4-under 68.

Emmaus will return to the links today at 2:30 p.m. as they host Blue Mountain (7-2) in a non-league match at Brookside Country Club.
