Lacrosse – DiComes 8-point effort helps Hornets rally past Northwestern Lehigh 11-10.

At Memorial Field on Tuesday night, senior Abby DiComes scored the game-winning goal with just 11 seconds left in regulation as the Hornets survived Northwestern Lehigh 11-10 in a non-league matchup.

Trailing by a pair of goals with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter, the Hornets were able to rally and tie the game at 10-10 with 22 seconds left, then take the lead for good on DiComes’ goal off an assist from junior Rylie Poll.

DiComes had a career-night in leading the Hornets to the victory with an eight-point effort scoring three goals and dishing out five assists. Poll also had a big game with four goals and an assist, while senior Brooke Peterson and sophomore Sofia Isaksson each added a pair of scores for the Hornets, who improved to 4-3 on the season.

Northwestern Lehigh (2-4) was paced by senior Cara Thomas who had a team-high four goals. Senior Liv Spatz and sophomore Liv Fagan also tallied two goals.

Up next for Emmaus will be their toughest opponent to date as they travel to Pleasant Valley on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to take on the undefeated Bears.
