
At Memorial Field on Tuesday night, Emmaus celebrated its Senior Night with a 14-6 non-league victory over Saucon Valley.
The Hornets were in battle in the first half leading by just one goal at the break (7-6), but after halftime coach Roxann Betz’s squad clamped down on the defensive end as they held the Panthers scoreless while putting up seven goals of their own.
Emmaus won for the third time in their last four games as they improved to 10-6 on the season.
Senior Abby DiComes (5 goals) and junior Rylie Poll (4 goals) led the Hornets offense combining for nine goals in the victory. Senior Brooke Peterson and junior Taylor Younker each added a pair of goals while sophomore McKenna Guzick dished out a career-high five assists. In goal, senior Devin O’Neill did not allow a goal in the second half and was credited with three saves.
Saucon Valley was led in scoring by freshman Tess Andrews who had two goals and an assist. Seniors Riley Lannon and Madi Kares also added a pair of goals for the Panthers who suffered their sixth straight loss in dropping to 4-8 on the season.
Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 7 p.m. as they travel to rival Parkland (8-8).
