The 4th Annual Relentless Hope Lacrosse match between Emmaus and Southern Lehigh High Schools will take place next Saturday, April 27.
The event, also referred to as the PanCan Games, will be held inside the Southern Lehigh High School football stadium for the second time in the last three years.
There will be a total of four games played beginning with the girls JV game at 10 a.m., followed by the boys JV at 11:30 a.m., the girls varsity at 2 p.m. and the boys varsity at 4 p.m. There will also be a ceremony held at 12:45 p.m. featuring representatives and speakers from both teams.
Since the event was started back in 2016, there has been almost $20,000 raised ($19,600).
Emmaus is sponsoring the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, while Southern Lehigh is sponsoring the Headstrong Foundation.
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nationwide network dedicated to creating hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer through research, patient support, community outreach and government advocacy. The organization raises money for direct private funding of research and also advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
The Headstrong Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization founded in 2006 to improve quality of life for cancer patients and their families.
Each team has been selling t-shirts to raise funds for their respective causes. Students at both schools will be selling shirts during lunch this week leading up to the game. Shirts will also be available for purchase at the gate on Saturday. Wearing your shirt gains you free admission into the stadium. Short sleeve shirts are $10 and long sleeve are $15.
In addition to the lacrosse action on the field, the event will include various fundraising activities and throughout the game, big ticket raffle items will be awarded.
In last year’s event held at Emmaus High School, the two schools split with the Hornet girls winning 16-7 in the inaugural game, while the Spartan boys defeated the hosts 13-6. Southern Lehigh leads the boys series 2-1.
