Lacrosse – Seven different players score goals in girls 14-8 win over Liberty; Boys survive Hurricane upset bid with 7-6 victory.

Emmaus 14, Liberty 8 (Girls)

At BASD Stadium, Emmaus broke away from Liberty at the half by outscoring the Hurricane 9-3 over the final two quarters in earning the win.

Senior Abby DiComes led a Hornets balanced scoring attack with a seven-point game (2g/5a), while junior Rylie Poll added a hat trick. Senior Brooke Peterson and juniors Taylor Younker, Sarah Palazzo and Sarah Gross each added a pair of goals for Emmaus, which improved to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the EPC.

Liberty was led by junior Ellis Corr who had four goals. The Hurricane dropped to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Emmaus will return to action on April 15 at 6:30 p.m. when they host Central Catholic.

At Memorial Field, the Hornets survived a much-improved Liberty team with a one-goal victory.

Senior Kaleb Mains led all scorers with a game-high four goals, including the game winner for Emmaus (5-6 overall) which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Another senior, Gabe Chies, added a pair of goals in the victory, while freshman Alex Younker dished out a game-high three assists. In goal, Jack Sullivan was credited with 10 saves.

Liberty, coached by former Emmaus alum Joe Magargal, was paced by senior Nathan Vella who had a hat trick. The Hurricane dropped their fourth straight game as they fell to 3-7 on the season.

The Hornets will return to action tonight at 6:30 p.m. as they host Boyertown in a non-league game.
