Emmaus 12, Freedom 9 (Girls)
At Memorial Field last night, Emmaus found themselves in a battle with Freedom in their season-opener, but the Hornets were able to pull away late for a 12-9 victory.
Six different players scored goals in the victory for head coach Roxann Betz’s squad. Senior Taylor Younker led the offense with four goals and an assist, while classmate Sarah Gross added a hat trick.
Senior Rylie Poll added a pair of goals and sophomore Evelyn Gavin and junior Ally Kusko each added a goal and an assist.
Junior Madi Lenig had a great all-around game with 11 draw control wins and nine ground balls.
Freedom was led by senior Karee Vandever who scored four goals. Classmate Jenelle Karabinus added a hat trick for the Patriots who dropped to 1-1 on the season.
Emmaus will return to action on March 24 at 4 p.m. as they travel to Easton.

Emmaus 11, Freedom 4 (Boys)
At Freedom, seven different Hornets figured into the scoring column as Emmaus picked up its second win of the week.
Sophomore Alex Younker, who was coming off a career-high four goal effort in the team’s season-opening win over Becahi, scored a pair of goals and added two assists to lead the offensive attack. Senior Colin Garrett also had a big game with two goals and was dominating at the faceoff X winning 12 of 13.
Sophomores Sam Pechulis and Greyson Schmidt each added two goals, while junior Anthony Attar also found the back of the net twice.
Freshman goalie Liam Lewis was credited with six saves for the Hornets who improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Hornets will close out the week on Saturday at Noon as they travel to Central Bucks East for a non-league game.
