Monday roundup – Golf’s DeLong finishes first at District XI qualifier, Scharper’s big day leads girls’ soccer past ESS, boys soccer returns to winning ways, while girls tennis falls to rival Parkland

At Northampton Country Club, senior Kyan DeLong took home top scoring honors at the District XI qualifier.

DeLong shot a 1-over on both the front and back nine and finished with a 2-over 74, two shots better than the next closest golfer.

Also qualifying for the Hornets were junior Silas Wellhoener who finished T4 with a 5-over 77, and sophomore Anderson Francis who finished T21 with a 12-over 84.

Junior Evan Walters V, senior Alexis Teichman and sophomore Ella Bloszinsky were all exempt from the qualifier.

Girls Soccer – Emmaus 7, ES South 0

At ES South, Ella Scharper had a career-day in leading the Hornets past ES South.

The Emmaus sophomore midfielder had a hat trick to go along with three assists as the Hornets won their 11th straight game (11-1 overall/10-0 EPC).

Junior forward Giuliana Meyer added two goals to go along with a pair of assists, while juniors Sophia Shutkufksi and Lizzy Bender also added goals.

In goal, senior Sadie Wallace and sophomore Olivia Haberl each had one save as Emmaus posted their eighth shutout of the season.

At Memorial Field, six different players scored goals as the Hornets returned to their winning ways.

After a pair of ties against both Freedom and Easton last week, Emmaus got back into the win column fueled by a six goal first half.

Senior Andrew Manz led the offense with a pair of goals for the Hornets, who improved to 10-0-2 overall and 9-0-2 in the EPC.

Juniors Aleksander Przybylski and Anthony Suida along with senior Connor Powell also added a goal and an assist.

At Emmaus, the Hornets suffered just their second loss of the season at the hands of rival Parkland.

The Trojans swept all three singles matches with Emmaus winning two of the three doubles.

Parkland remained unbeaten in the EPC at 14-0, while the Hornets dropped to 12-2.

Prior to the match, Emmaus honored their five seniors — Sophia Kaufman, Anshi Kanani, Taylor Henninger, Laura Justesen and Isabell Kennet.
