BOYS SOCCER

At Northampton last night, two unbeaten teams collided, and it was Emmaus coming away with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against a Konkrete Kids squad that had ended their season a year ago in the District XI Tournament.

Junior Ben Grossi picked the perfect time to score his first goal of the season as his crossing pass to the far post midway through the second half found the inside of the net for the game’s lone goal.

The victory improves Emmaus’ overall mark to 8-0 and 7-0 in the EPC. It was also the seventh shutout of the season for head coach John Cari’s squad, which has outscored its opponents 36-1.

Northampton suffered its first loss as they dropped to 6-1 EPC and 7-1 overall.

Each team had three shots on goal, while the Hornets held a slim 3-2 advantage in corners. In goal, senior Will Peck picked up the shutout win

Emmaus will be right back at it today at 4 p.m. as they travel to Bethlehem Catholic.
