At Memorial Field, Emmaus and visiting Northampton battled through 80 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods in a steady rainfall Monday night with neither side being able to find the back of the net.
As a result, the Hornets remained unbeaten in EPC play (10-0-1) while posting their 11th straight shutout behind a stout back line and the play of senior goalie Colin Wilson who made five saves.
Emmaus was able to keep that scoreless streak in tact thanks to the defensive play of the game in the 99th minute of the second overtime on senior Dahlin Allport’s sliding tackle on Northampton’s DeLali Tsome, who had a clear path towards goal in a one-on-one situation.
For the game, the Konkrete Kids outshot the Hornets 5-4 with Emmaus holding a 5-3 edge in corners.
The Hornets will return to action with another big test on Wednesday at 4 p.m. as they travel to Freedom.
