Soccer – Girls post ninth straight shutout, defeat Whitehall 2-0, while boys remain perfect on season after Peck’s goal in overtime lifts Hornets past Zephyrs 1-0.

RECAP >> Freshman Gianna Buysee scored a goal and assisted on another as the Hornets remained unbeaten on the season after defeating Whitehall 2-0 on Wednesday night at Memorial Field.

The win improved Emmaus to 7-0-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the EPC and it was the ninth straight shutout for head coach Sarah Oswald’s team. Whitehall, which battled the Hornets to a scoreless tie just four days ago, dropped to 4-3-1 and 3-2-1 in the league.

Junior Kam Watkins also had a goal in the win for Emmaus, which had 13 shots on goal and held a 6-1 advantage in corners. Defensively, the Hornets held Whitehall without a shot in the game.

Emmaus will return to action next Monday when they host rival Parkland at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Field.

RECAP >> Senior Hudson Peck scored the game-winner in overtime as the Hornets kept their perfect record in-tact with a 1-0 win over Whitehall Wednesday night at the Zephyr Sports Complex.

Peck’s goal, his team-leading 10th of the season, came three minutes into the extra session as Emmaus defeated Whitehall 1-0 for the second time this season.

It was the seventh shutout of the season for head coach John Cari’s squad, which improved to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the EPC. Whitehall fell to 3-3.

Emmaus dominated the game outshooting the Zephyrs 21-3.

Up next for the Hornets will be rival Parkland at 7 p.m. next Monday at Parkland High School. Penn Sports Radio will have LIVE coverage of the game beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
