Soccer – Girls roll to 9-0 win over ES South behind McWhinney, Adams and Woodward; Kiernan scores 11th of season in boys 3-1 win over Cavaliers

Emmaus 9, ES South 0 (Girls)

RECAP >> Seven different players scored goals last night during a steady rain fall at Memorial Field as the Hornets routed East Stroudsburg South 9-0.

Sophomore Kam McWhinney led Emmaus (13-1-1 overall) with two goals and three assists, while junior Julia Adams added a pair of scores and senior Madison Woodward returned to the lineup and dished out three assists to go along with her sixth goal of the season.

Junior Ryleigh McNellis scored her first goal of the season and added an assist for the Hornets who posted their 11th shutout on the year.

Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. as they travel to Stroudsburg (4-8-1 EPC/4-9-1 overall).

Recap >> A downpour at East Stroudsburg South couldn’t slow down Emmaus last night as the Hornets went on the road and defeated the Cavaliers 3-1.

Junior Ryan Kiernan scored his team-leading 11th goal of the season in the first half, while seniors Ryan Latchford and Zach Bernhart each scored their second goals after halftime for Emmaus, which improved to 13-1-1 overall and 13-1 in the EPC.

Senior Max McGrath picked up the win in goal making three saves.

Emmaus outshot ES South 9-4 in the match and each team had two corners.

The Cavaliers (10-5/9-5) only score of the game came in the second half on a goal from Kondwani Keitt off a corner.

The Hornets will return to Memorial Field on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. as they host Stroudsburg (5-9) in their final regular-season home game.
