Soccer – Walkiewicz scores first career hat trick as Hornets bounce back from first loss of the season with 5-2 Senior Night win over Northampton

RECAP >> The Hornets celebrated Senior Night on Monday at home at Memorial Field by bouncing back from their first loss of the season with a 5-2 win over Northampton.

Junior Sammy Walkiewicz registered her first career hat trick for Emmaus (11-1-1 overall) which got back into the win column after falling to Easton 2-0 on Saturday.

Sophomore Kam McWhinney scored her seventh goal of the season in the victory, while junior Ashley Geder added her fifth. Sophomore Morgan Tandy also had an outstanding game with a pair of assists.

Northampton had jumped out to a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the game on senior Danika Cuchran’s goal before the Hornets scored four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead at the half. Each team wound up scoring one goal in the second half.

Cuchran and sophomore Chloe Watson tallied the lone goals of the night for the K-Kids, who dropped to 6-5-1 overall with the loss.

Prior to the game Emmaus honored its seven seniors: Kaitlyn Dill, Casey Bender, Sam Kreiner, Madison Woodward, Brooke Masiado, Hadlee Horvath and Paige Inman.

The Hornets will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as they travel to Freedom.
