Soccer – Watkins scores game-winner in double overtime as Hornets snap three-game losing skid with 2-1 win over Northampton

RECAP >> Senior Kam Watkins scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime last night as Emmaus picked up a much-needed win and in the process, spoiled Northampton’s Senior Night, with a 2-1 at Northampton.

With the victory, the Hornets snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 8-3 in the EPC and 8-5 overall. It was also the second time this season that Emmaus has defeated the Konkrete Kids (3-0 on September 8).

The Hornets had trailed in the contest 1-0 at the half but rallied to tie the game on senior Hannah Yencho’s goal.

Northampton had its three-game win streak snapped and dropped to 6-5 in the league and 7-6 overall with the loss.

Emmaus will return to action on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. as they host Whitehall at Memorial Field. The Hornets have already defeated the Zephyrs once this season – 5-0 back on September 10.
