Softball – Eiswerth tosses no-hitter in debut as Hornets rout CCHS 15-0 in season-opener.

Pitcher Mari Eiswerth shined in her varsity debut in Emmaus’ season opener on Monday at Williams Street Field as she tossed a three-inning, no-hitter in the Hornets 15-0 rout of Central Catholic

Eiswerth, a sophomore, struck out seven of the nine batters she faced for Emmaus, which did all of its scoring in the first two innings, plating nine runs in the first and adding six more in the second.

At the plate, junior first baseman Abby Derr had a big day going 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBI. Senior right fielder Sophia Tranguch also had two hits and two runs scored, while center fielder Taylor Hauver drove in a career-high four runs with a triple.

For CCHS (0-1), Jenna Dalrymple suffered the loss on the mound after allowing six runs in just 1/3 of an inning.

Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 4 p.m. as they host Nazareth.
